Donating 100% of all publishing profits in December

Buy a book.
Support local indie bookstores.
Help our nation’s farmers.

During the entire month of December, 100% of all publishing profits for the Shop Local book will be donated directly to Farm Aid.

Here’s how it works:

1. Go to your local indie bookstore
2. Buy the book, Shop Local: A Practical Pain-Free Guide to Shopping With Purpose by Heidi Butzine
3. The local indie bookstore keeps ALL of the profits from the sale
4. 100% of all publishing profits go directly to Farm Aid

Why are we doing this?
Our nation faces tremendous uncertainty about our economy. Big, consolidated factory farms are putting family farms and our small towns out of business. Farmers are local indie businesses too and important to the shop local movement. When local farms thrive, other local businesses and communities also benefit through job creation, economic vitality and access to high quality food. Supporting our independent and family farms is an opportunity to get our economy out of its recession hangover and help build a sustainable, prosperous future while revitalizing communities across America. We believe that now is the time to help in a bigger way.

Why Farm Aid?
We believe in organizations that empower people. Farm Aid empowers farmers across the country to help them find the resources they need to access new markets, transition to more sustainable and profitable farming practices, and survive natural disasters. They support projects and programs that are working to keep family farmers on the land. Farm Aid works with local, regional and national organizations to promote fair farm policies and grassroots organizing campaigns designed to defend and bolster family farm-centered agriculture. We also believe in the work they’ve done to raise awareness about the opportunity to expand thriving local and regional economies based on family farmers.
