Finding balance without a guilt trip.
I'm a father of two in my early sixties and both of my daughters are back home living with us after graduating from college two years ago. We have always shopped at Walmart and discount stores to save money for our family but this book has really opened my eyes. What I liked most was that it provided information about why shopping local matters but it didn't make me feel guilty for shopping at the big stores. The author helps readers find balance. Sometimes you just need a gentle reminder about the impact your choices can have. This book provides a good balance of inspiration to spend more responsibly but still based in reality.

Helpful resource for ways to support our communities
I read this book out of sheer curiosity and found it to be very informative. I learned more about local indie businesses (as Ms. Butzine calls them) and what role they play in the economic health and vitality of our communities.
There are lots of great ideas in Shop Local that have helped me stop and think before I buy something. I loved the tools in the book that helped me plan out my own goals and spending priorities to support the local businesses in my town. Very helpful.

Never before did I think much about where I shopped and how I spent my money. After reading Shop Local, I know have a much better awareness about how much my spending choices matter.

How to make a difference.
Who knew that shopping could make a difference in my community. This book helped to confirm some of the things I was feeling about how much I was really saving and where my money was going when I shop at bigger stores. Will make you think twice about where you shop.
